What is a NMI number?
NMI stands for National Metering Identifier.
There are millions of NMIs in Australia and each one uniquely links to individual electricity meters.
They are issued by local network service providers (the companies responsible for distributing electricity, (poles and wires) to energy retailers and companies like us to help identify and manage connections.
Think of your NMI as a serial number or identification for your home or business’s electricity meter. No two NMIs are the same and they differ slightly in each state with the starting digits.
What is a MIRN?
MIRN stands for Meter Installation Registration Number it’s used to identify gas connection points in Australia and similar to NMIs are issued by the local network providers.
There are millions of MIRN’s in Australia and each one uniquely links to individual gas meters, You can find your MIRN number on your gas bill.
Your gas meter will also have a meter number that isn’t the same as your MIRN. If you’re unsure which number you’re looking at, check the first digit – MIRNs begin with a 5.
How much does it cost to switch retailers?
Nothing, we do not charge our small business or residential customers to use our comparison service, It’s completely free to use.
We are paid a fee directly by the energy retailers, and we only get paid if you decide to switch through our channel. Our fee also does not impact the rates that you pay.
What is a Solar feed-in tariff?
If you install solar on your premises, any electricity that isn’t used that is generated by the solar can be exported back to the electricity grid. You may be eligible for a payment for the exported electricity by the energy retailer. This payment is called a feed-in tariff.
